Frequently Asked Questions

+ I’m anxious about starting therapy! What can I expect?

Starting therapy can be very anxiety-provoking and we completely understand. You can expect a warm, supportive environment where you are able to express whatever you need to. During the initial consultation and first session, we will discuss any worries that you may have about getting started.

+ How does online therapy work?

Online therapy follows a similar format to traditional face-to-face therapy but is delivered via a secure video platform. During an online therapy session, we will access a private therapy room and utilize video capabilities to communicate. Online therapy provides all of the benefits of traditional therapy in addition to flexible scheduling and convenience of conducting sessions from home.

+ I'm a parent/guardian booking an appointment for my child. What will my role be in the therapy process and how can I best support my child outside of their sessions?

For our younger clients, parents may be asked to attend the first several sessions with their child, or to meet with the therapist at the beginning or end of their child's sessions. Parent-only sessions may also be recommended to go over parenting or relational techniques that may support their child's treatment.

For older teens, parents are typically involved on a consultation basis at the beginning or end of therapy sessions.
